It was the brainchild of Rotary International President 21-22 Shekhar Mehta who is also a member and Past President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar. Passionate about service to humanity, he wanted to leverage technology to ensure that patients who needed blood in times of a medical emergency should get connected with registered voluntary blood donors. He urged members of his club Rotary Calcutta Mahanagar to develop an App that could serve this purpose.
Bloodline plus App was developed by Rotary Calcutta Mahanagar with emphasis on simplicity and user friendliness. Donors can voluntarily register and they can respond to save a life in times of need. The App accepts requests for blood and has a built in algorithm that searches for donors with matching blood group within 50 km radius of he hospital where the patient has been admitted. when donors receive notifications about the blood request, they can choose to accept and can be contacted by the requester.
Initially, Bloodline plus App has been launched in Kolkata among the large Rotarian community. Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar is organising press meets and corporate meets to share this useful App with Kolkatans. It is our endevour to grow this service and take it to pan India level.
